New Zealand Football Foundation Partners

Dr Johanna Wood is President of New Zealand Football and a generous supporter of grassroots initiatives in Aotearoa. An experienced educator hailing from Central Football, Johanna is passionate about the power of football to help women and rangatahi achieve their goals on and off the pitch. Dr Wood’s generosity supported the purchase of first footballs for young people signing up to play the game for the very first time.

The late Sir Eion Edgar was a renowned New Zealand businessman and chairman of the Forsyth Barr Group. He was also a generous supporter of the Football Foundation, who believed in our mission and our work. Sir Eion played a critical role in ensuring the New Zealand Football Foundation was able to fund grassroots social initiatives, pledging an incredible $500,000. We are grateful for the ongoing support of Sir Eion’s family.

Mark Stewart MNZM is a former Chairperson of the New Zealand Football Foundation who has continued to support us, generously pledging $500,000. A prominent businessman and lover of sport, Mark has always focused on giving back to his community. He was awarded the Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for Services to Community and Sport. We are very grateful for his continued involvement with, and belief in, the New Zealand Football Foundation.

Four Winds Foundation supports the New Zealand Football Foundation through the provision of grants. Four Winds supports a variety of community initiatives throughout Aotearoa.

New Zealand Football established the New Zealand Football Foundation in 2010, with money received upon the All Whites qualification for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. We are grateful for the work the national governing body does in growing the game in Aotearoa: a thriving football community is vital to our mission to use Football for Good.

The New Zealand Professional Footballers’ Association advocates for our professional players, many of whom are supports of the Football Foundation.

Youthtown New Zealand has supported young people through a variety of social programmes since 1932. We are grateful to partner with Youthtown in developing one of our cornerstone initiatives for our Youth Pillar, FootballConnect.

Friends of Football are a group of dedicated football fans who love the game, and believe in the importance of sport for supporting healthy societies. Friends of Football also help give our players a platform, and strengthen community ties within football.

The NZCFC, which was developed by the New Zealand Police in 2008, uses people’s passion for football to connect diverse communities, celebrate success and encourage positive social change. It is supported and endorsed by key regional and government agencies.
